THE OWNER

Even before he matriculated from Bellville Technical High School, JKWorks owner Jandré Koekemoer knew that he wanted to work on motorcycles. As a boy, he scrutinized machines, took them apart and tried to understand how they worked. His innate curiosity about mechanical objects quickly became a quest for technical knowledge.

Jandré is a qualified technician with a National Red Seal Certificate from merSETA (Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority). As the regulatory authority for hand skills in South Africa, merSETA’s endorsements are recognized nationally and internationally. Jandré obtained his certificate after successfully completing a trade test specifically for motorcycles, and has been working on bikes for more than a decade.

Jandré started his career at Hamman Motorrad (formerly Trefco BMW) and developed an immediate appreciation for BMW motorcycles, studying the intricacies of the bikes while carrying out services and repairs for his clients. He spent almost six years honing his skills at this motorcycle dealer and completed a lengthy restoration for a BMW R50/5 owner. When the dealership closed its doors in 2012, Jandré pursued an opportunity to learn more about motorbike suspension at MP Custom Valve. He worked there for two years before deciding to branch out on his own.

The result is JKWorks – an independent BMW motorcycle workshop where each bike is given the care it deserves. Contact Jandré to schedule an appointment, or connect with him on Facebook, LinkedIn and the BMW Forum.
